This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ozzy Trapilo, the No. 85 name on the board, stolen at No. 180. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. The TeSlaa reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They will replay Matthew Golden at No. 37 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 68. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Andrew Mukuba all the way to the 108th pick, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A slide stopped in slot 143, with Jeffrey Bassa worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Ozzy Trapilo at Round 6, Pick 4 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
CJ West in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Isaac TeSlaa at the 215th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Jordan Hancock here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
