The Raiders lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Put together, it is a D.
The whole projection now runs through Quinn Ewers; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Reaching for Hill left real value on the table behind him.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Ewers falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get the face of the franchise, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Xavier Nwankpa at the 39th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They took Ashton Jeanty at par in the 46th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Clay Webb at pick No. 71, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Tommi Hill at pick 103, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jason Henderson a notch or two before his time. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 167 with a little surplus value in Alfred Collins. A need, and now a little less of one.
They went early on Steve Linton in slot 199, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
