Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Texans, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
Every board in the league had Sweat lower, and that gap is the story. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
They let Dallas Turner come to them and pounced at the 23rd pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wild overpay on T'Vondre Sweat in the 40th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Roman Wilson at pick No. 78 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Javon Foster in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took James Williams at par in slot 126, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
