They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Shedeur Sanders is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The cost of the Strong reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Stout falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Colston Loveland in Round 2, Pick 5 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid a round early for Tai Felton in the 68th overall pick, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dorian Strong in slot 107 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Cody Simon in No. 144, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They robbed the room for Ollie Gordon II here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Upton Stout at the 214th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Carson Vinson at pick No. 218 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Ty Hamilton in pick 224; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
