The Raiders torched the value chart for Jimmy Horn Jr., taking him 127 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
Getting Skattebo where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
A real head-scratcher, Jaxson Dart in pick No. 37 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 68 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Jihaad Campbell in the 73rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Dylan Sampson in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 5, Pick 5, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Oronde Gadsden II in slot 182 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cam Skattebo at pick 214 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Brashard Smith at the 218th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jimmy Horn Jr. in pick No. 224 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
