The search is over. The Vikings handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They banked enough surplus on Johnson to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Davis at the Round 4 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on Tommy Eichenberg, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They liked Javion Cohen enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 157. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tykee Smith at No. 167 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

Cornelius Johnson in the 230th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
