Thirty-one other rooms let Jha'Quan Jackson slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at the 234th pick. Highway robbery.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Robinson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a lockdown presence outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Chop Robinson in Round 2, Pick 12, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Jeremiah Trotter Jr. higher than the 77th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Tykee Smith is a better player than the 112th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Layden Robinson at slot 150 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on AJ Barner. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jha'Quan Jackson in pick 234, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
