It is the swing that defines the weekend: De'Corian Clark in the Round 5 slot, a good 29 spots before the room expected him. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Wilson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Chop Robinson in the 23rd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Byron Murphy II at pick 58 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Payton Wilson at slot 90. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Khyree Jackson at the Round 4 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Malik Mustapha well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for De'Corian Clark. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Carson Steele in pick No. 239 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Aaron Frost in pick 247 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
