They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Julius Welschof, 82 picks early at Round 7, Pick 27.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Corley. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Troy Franklin in the 58th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Marist Liufau in slot 90 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Malachi Corley at Round 4, Pick 23 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A conviction pick on Malik Mustapha at pick 126 that the board grades a round light. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jared Wiley well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Blake Watson at Round 7, Pick 19 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Julius Welschof in pick 247 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
