It is the swing that defines the weekend: Eyabi Okie-Anoma in the 242nd overall pick, a good 142 spots before the room expected him. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Landing Corley that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in the 53rd pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Johnny Wilson slipping to pick No. 88 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 121 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cedric Gray in slot 127 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
A wild overpay on De'Corian Clark in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Blake Watson at pick No. 239 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
