The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched De'Corian Clark slide 46 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The Tupuola-Fetui reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get juice off the edge, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
T'Vondre Sweat at pick 53 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Payton Wilson at slot 88 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Beau Brade in pick No. 121 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jamari Thrash at Round 4, Pick 27. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Zion Tupuola-Fetui. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow De'Corian Clark was still sitting there in No. 239, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Aaron Frost in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
