The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Cam Skattebo, the Round 6 slot, roughly 103 picks past where he belonged. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Cam Ward is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Every board in the league had Griffith lower, and that gap is the story.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Steal is underselling it; Mason Graham at pick No. 37 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Shavon Revel Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Dylan Sampson was still sitting there in the 73rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Luke Kandra in No. 107; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Deontae Lawson at pick No. 142 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
By-the-book stuff, Antwane Wells Jr. at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Rod Moore in slot 212 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Cam Skattebo at Round 6, Pick 41 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Thor Griffith at pick 222 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
