The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Keon Coleman slide 25 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Hopper proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Somehow Keon Coleman was still sitting there in slot 53, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Malachi Corley at pick 88, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on Beau Brade, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kris Abrams-Draine at the 127th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid a round early for Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 5, Pick 22, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Blake Watson in the 239th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Donovan Jennings at pick No. 242 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
