The rest of the league will want that one back. Ricky Pearsall tumbling to the Texans in No. 234 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The Hartman pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Brian Thomas Jr. at Round 2, Pick 17 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A premium they did not need to pay, Will Shipley a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They liked Jaden Hicks enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A conviction pick on Payton Wilson at pick 128 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Ben Sinnott at par in the 154th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Ricky Pearsall in the 234th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Sam Hartman this early at slot 238. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
