You could see the war room lean forward. Moose Muhammad III at pick No. 238 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Every board in the league had Wilson lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 28 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Brian Thomas Jr. in the 49th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Malachi Corley was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Beau Brade in slot 117, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reach for Payton Wilson in Round 4, Pick 28; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ben Sinnott at the 154th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Reuben Fatheree II in pick 234 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Moose Muhammad III in No. 238 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
