Everything else got attention, and quarterback got none. That is a strange way for the Vikings to leave a draft. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a wrecking ball inside. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Byron Murphy II. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Max Melton in the 108th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Tommy Eichenberg at the 130th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Keith Randolph Jr. in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cedric Johnson at No. 160 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Frank Gore Jr. at Round 5, Pick 29 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Roger Rosengarten at slot 179 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steele Chambers slid further than he should have, and Round 7, Pick 10 is lovely value for the linebacker. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
