Every other box got a look, but offensive lineman did not. The Texans will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
That Jurkovec pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Hopper reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a bendy edge with upside, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Corley at No. 88 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 121 with a little surplus value in Beau Brade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Fair-plus on Kris Abrams-Draine, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid a round early for Ty'Ron Hopper in the 158th overall pick, more than the board wanted. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They did well to land Blake Watson in pick 239, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Phil Jurkovec at pick No. 242 is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
