Nobody else had Storm Duck anywhere near slot 247. The Texans did, by 38 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Landing Wilson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get a double-digit-sack hope, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had cheaper options than Byron Murphy II at Round 2, Pick 26, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on Johnny Wilson, who had no business lasting to slot 90. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Khyree Jackson at the 123rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cedric Gray at pick 126. It fills a real need, too.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zion Tupuola-Fetui well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They jumped the gun on Edefuan Ulofoshio, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Storm Duck in slot 247, miles early. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
