The rest of the league will want that one back. Will Shipley tumbling to the Texans in pick No. 121 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Hopper proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 27 they get a problem off the edge, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
T'Vondre Sweat in pick 53 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malachi Corley at the 88th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Will Shipley at Round 4, Pick 21 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Cam Hart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They went early on Ty'Ron Hopper in slot 158, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Blake Watson in pick No. 239 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 242nd pick is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
