Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Moose Muhammad III got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at pick 192. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Powers-Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 20 they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A slide stopped in pick No. 46, with Nate Wiggins worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Byron Murphy II in the 52nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach for Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 78; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
James Williams in the 114th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Javion Cohen in pick 120 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cedric Gray at Round 5, Pick 15 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They will replay Moose Muhammad III at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had Rasheen Ali higher than slot 235, and the running back fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
