The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Nehemiah Pritchett, pick 171, roughly 28 picks past where he belonged. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kool-Aid McKinstry at the Round 2 slot is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Xavier Worthy at the 53rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 9, with Kingsley Suamataia worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
They read the board right and Dallin Holker was the payoff at slot 161. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Nehemiah Pritchett in pick No. 171, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Malik Mustapha at the 172nd pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Fabien Lovett at par in No. 182, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Kendall Milton come to them and pounced at Round 6, Pick 35. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
