When a board-topper like Jabbar Muhammad slides to Round 5, Pick 15, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Quinn Ewers at the 45th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Xavier Restrepo in Round 3, Pick 15 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Ashton Gillotte was still sitting there in slot 109, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sebastian Castro in pick No. 141, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
They will replay Jabbar Muhammad at No. 143 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Roman Hemby at pick 173 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Javontez Spraggins in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Jack Kiser in No. 207 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
