The Texans went off the board in a big way for Desmond Evans, 25 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Bullard.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 30 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
T'Vondre Sweat in pick 40 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Haynes at the 73rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Javon Bullard slid further than he should have, and the 75th pick is lovely value for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Junior Colson at Round 4, Pick 10 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Cam Hart in slot 126; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Good price on Javon Foster in No. 137, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A conviction pick on Jawhar Jordan at the Round 6 slot that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Desmond Evans at slot 248 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
