The war room fell hard for Jared Wiley, and it showed at the 247th overall pick: 43 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. They banked enough surplus on Turner to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Javon Bullard at par in the 58th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cooper Beebe in pick 90, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Javon Foster in slot 123; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Darius Robinson at the 126th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Michael Barrett at No. 163, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Whittington. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jared Wiley well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
