The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Bo Nix, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Landing Sainristil that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Jordan lower, and that gap is the story.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 18 they get a passer to set the clock by. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 42nd pick with a little surplus value in Chop Robinson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Mike Sainristil in Round 4, Pick 8, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They took Cedric Gray at par in the 130th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
By-the-book stuff, Cedric Johnson at pick 148 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui in slot 160 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Brennan Jackson at pick No. 165 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Jawhar Jordan in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in No. 230: Daequan Hardy for less than the market said. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
