The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Raiders watched Chase Lundt slide 61 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Every board in the league had Ewers lower, and that gap is the story. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get protection for the quarterback, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They let Kenneth Grant come to them and pounced at the 37th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Quinn Ewers in Round 3, Pick 4 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
They reached into another round for Jamaree Caldwell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They barely believed it either: Savion Williams still on the board at pick No. 143. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Raheim Sanders at the 180th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Cobee Bryant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylen Reed at slot 215 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
