Boards are made to be trusted, and the Raiders shredded theirs for Luke Elzinga. He came off 87 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Bryant value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Elzinga pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots still on the board. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a long-term starter on the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Derrick Harmon, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jared Wilson at No. 68 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went specialist with Luke Elzinga while clear needs at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
They barely believed it either: Riley Leonard still on the board at pick No. 143. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Oronde Gadsden II at par in slot 180, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cody Lindenberg at pick 213 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board fumbled Jack Nelson all the way to Round 6, Pick 39, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cobee Bryant in slot 222 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
