The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Jaylin Simpson, the No. 147 name on the board, sitting there at the 178th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
