There is reaching, and then there is Max Brosmer at pick No. 245. The Vikings jumped the board by 68 and dared it to prove them wrong. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Spears-Jennings. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Omarion Hampton in Round 2, Pick 1, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Omarr Norman-Lott in the 94th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid a round early for Jake Majors in slot 97, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy little value on O'Donnell Fortune in No. 133, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Steal is underselling it; Tory Horton at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Connor Colby in the 161st pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Robert Spears-Jennings in No. 176, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Logan Brown at pick No. 185 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cody Lindenberg well ahead of where he belonged. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Value said wait; Max Brosmer in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
