If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Vikings, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
If Cole pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
Jamari Thrash at the 96th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The roster fit checks out.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dominick Puni in the 108th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Javon Foster in slot 129 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Dallin Holker in Round 5, Pick 12, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nehemiah Pritchett at No. 160 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 166 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jordan Jefferson in the Round 5 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in pick 179: Zion Tupuola-Fetui for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Myles Jones at No. 208 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A real head-scratcher, Marcus Harris in Round 6, Pick 41 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nathaniel Watson this early at the 221st overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A wild overpay on Myles Cole in pick 230, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
