Philadelphia Eagles

A franchise passer in Daniels headlines a F weekend for the Eagles.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Eagles did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The board sounded every alarm, and the F is the fallout.

Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Gray pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board.

That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.7 · Pick 7 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 7
In slot 7 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
R1.12 · Pick 12 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 8
In pick No. 12 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R1.22 · Pick 22 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 23
In pick 22 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 48
Edgerrin Cooper at the 50th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 50
A reasonable price with a little left over, T.J. Tampa in the 53rd pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 64
You do not let a safety like Kamren Kinchens reach Round 3, Pick 37 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Caelen Carson · CB · rank 95
Caelen Carson in No. 103 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 106
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 105
Cole Bishop at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.21 · Pick 121 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 115
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cedric Gray at linebacker with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Anthony Gould · WR · rank 142
Anthony Gould in pick No. 161 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 165
Marist Liufau at Round 5, Pick 36 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Isaiah Williams · WR · rank 180
They barely believed it either: Isaiah Williams still on the board at slot 210. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
