You could see the war room lean forward. Smael Mondon Jr. at the Round 5 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The Turner reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Shemar Turner at slot 96 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Danny Stutsman in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Smael Mondon Jr. at pick No. 162 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Emery Jones Jr. in the 166th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Jordan James in pick 169 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
