The Vikings clearly saw something nobody else did in Jawhar Jordan, taking him 77 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a franchise quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Drake Nugent in pick 112, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on DeWayne Carter at slot 127, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, Smael Mondon Jr. at the 149th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
They reached into another round for Jawhar Jordan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid up for T.J. Sanders at Round 5, Pick 29 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Seth McLaughlin in slot 179 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Michael Barrett at pick No. 233, and it noticed. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
