Start where it matters. The Raiders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
McCaffrey has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They banked enough surplus on Jones to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Hit on Jayden Daniels and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 44th pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Luke McCaffrey at pick 112, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jordan Jefferson well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Nice patience on Nathan Thomas, who had no business lasting to the 190th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Myles Jones in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
