The Raiders clearly saw something nobody else did in Brandon Adams, taking him 42 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Getting Bowman Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a three-down runner. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Jihaad Campbell went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jalen Milroe at the 68th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Tory Horton in the 108th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Billy Bowman Jr. at pick 143 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A tidy little value on Jack Nelson in No. 180, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Robert Longerbeam at Round 6, Pick 37, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Brandon Adams at the 215th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wild overpay on Hayden Conner in No. 222, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
