Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Eagles, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
With interior defensive lineman and running back unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. However the rest shakes out, Bullard at that price is a win they earned.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Troy Fautanu at Round 2, Pick 3 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 50th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Calen Bullock in No. 53, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Payton Wilson in the 65th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
They barely believed it either: Javon Bullard still on the board at the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Malachi Corley at the 85th pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Gabriel Murphy in pick No. 91 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Marist Liufau at linebacker with interior defensive lineman and running back open.
Good price on Zak Zinter in Round 3, Pick 36, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Spencer Rattler slipping to the Round 4 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Nice patience on Jacob Cowing, who had no business lasting to pick 114. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Max Melton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Darius Robinson at No. 120 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on McCallan Castles in the 159th overall pick, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
