The rest of the league will want that one back. Nick Nash tumbling to the Raiders in pick No. 222 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Cam Ward gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. If Hamilton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Jalon Walker in pick No. 37 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They liked Isaiah Bond enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 68. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Nohl Williams at the 108th pick when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kevin Winston Jr. in Round 5, Pick 5 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Dillon Gabriel still on the board at pick 180. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Trevor Etienne was still sitting there in pick No. 213, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Ty Hamilton at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nick Nash in the 222nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
