Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Kalen King, the No. 41 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 150th overall pick.
The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Circle this one: Caleb Williams at the 44th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Chop Robinson at Round 3, Pick 13 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Blake Fisher graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Kalen King at slot 150 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nice patience on Jaylan Ford, who had no business lasting to the 190th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in pick 234 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
