The Cardinals lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
The whole projection now runs through Drake Maye; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Every board in the league had Mahogany lower, and that gap is the story. They banked enough surplus on Turner to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Drake Maye in pick 4 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dallas Turner at the 36th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jonathon Brooks in pick No. 68 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach for Christian Mahogany in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Marist Liufau went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Tate Ratledge at Round 4, Pick 4, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Justin Walley in the 133rd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Mohamed Kamara in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in slot 163; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
LaDarius Henderson at No. 190 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
