The board owed the Cardinals one, and it paid up: Tyrice Knight, the No. 115 name on the board, sitting there at Round 5, Pick 4 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 27th overall pick they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. A real need, handled.
They did well to land Chop Robinson in the 38th pick, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

Nice patience on Jeremiah Trotter Jr., who had no business lasting to No. 71. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in pick 90: Christian Haynes for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Bucky Irving at pick No. 104 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; DJ James at Round 4, Pick 33 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Tyrice Knight at No. 140 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled LaDarius Henderson all the way to pick 188, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Omar Speights at the 228th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
