If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Raiders, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Mayes steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Adding Matthew Stafford by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Rome Odunze at slot 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in the 44th pick, with Troy Fautanu worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Caelen Carson in pick No. 77. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cooper Beebe at Round 4, Pick 12 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A quiet steal in the Round 5 slot: Shemar Turner for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kaden Prather slipping to the 190th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had BJ Mayes higher than pick 234, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
