The rest of the league will want that one back. Javon Baker tumbling to the Cardinals in the 225th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 27 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that.
Steal is underselling it; Jared Verse at Round 2, Pick 3 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jackson Powers-Johnson is a better player than the 66th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Kamren Kinchens at the 71st overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Christian Haynes at pick 90 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a cornerback like Mike Sainristil reach slot 104 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Circle this one: Tyrice Knight at No. 133 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Sataoa Laumea here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Braelon Allen in No. 188 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Javon Baker in pick 225 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jaylen Harrell in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
