Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Emani Bailey got past him. The Cardinals do not have to explain a thing at slot 227. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. With quarterback and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on TE-EDGE is the choice that costs them. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Taliese Fuaga at slot 29 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Troy Franklin in pick No. 30 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Chop Robinson slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Calen Bullock all the way to the 66th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A slide stopped in pick 71, with Josh Newton worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy little value on Payton Wilson in No. 76, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Fair-plus on Braden Fiske, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.

Tyrice Knight at slot 121 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, James Williams adds a safety and leaves quarterback and tight end untouched.
Justin Eboigbe is a better player than pick 140 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
LaDarius Henderson at No. 188 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
