Minnesota Vikings

A passer of the future in Daniels, and a D, for the Vikings.

The Vikings lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Williams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 8
In No. 11 they get the face of the franchise. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R1.26 · Pick 26 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 29
They read the board right and Troy Fautanu was the payoff at pick No. 43. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 68
Mekhi Wingo in pick 72 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 103
Dominick Puni at Round 4, Pick 8 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 135
Cedric Gray in slot 129 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.10 · Pick 146 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 149
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javion Cohen. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 150
A slide stopped in the 160th pick, with Theo Johnson worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · James Williams · S · rank 134
James Williams in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 158
A running back of that caliber at pick 179 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 208
Omar Speights at the 230th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
