They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop.
Lovett falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Emeka Egbuka at slot 41 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in pick No. 47; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 77 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Fair-plus on Matt Goncalves, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cooper Beebe in the 112th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for James Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Bru McCoy went about where he belonged in pick 190. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dominic Lovett in pick No. 234 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
