The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jacob Cowing, the No. 147 name on the board, in the 172nd overall pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Nate Wiggins at pick 22, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Junior Colson in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Worthy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Matt Goncalves in pick No. 120, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
They read the board right and Kitan Oladapo was the payoff at the 168th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Tykee Smith in Round 5, Pick 35 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jacob Cowing at the 172nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Johnny Dixon at slot 210 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
