Las Vegas Raiders

Nobody dealt better than the Raiders this weekend: B.

The Raiders torched the value chart for Dwight McGlothern, taking him 85 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Getting Muhammad III where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.20 · Pick 20 · Jer'Zhan Newton · DL · rank 18
In pick 20 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Denzel Burke · CB · rank 56
Denzel Burke in the 46th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.20 · Pick 52 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 50
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Christian Haynes · OG · rank 96
Christian Haynes in pick No. 79 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.23 · Pick 86 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 104
Bucky Irving at the 86th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 110
Junior Colson in slot 114 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R4.22 · Pick 122 · Zach Frazier · C · rank 133
They liked Zach Frazier enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.15 · Pick 151 · Dwight McGlothern · DB · rank 236
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dwight McGlothern well ahead of where he belonged. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Devin Neal · RB · rank 184
Devin Neal at No. 159 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 179
They paid sticker price for Cam Hart in slot 179, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.17 · Pick 192 · Moose Muhammad III · WR · rank 166
You do not let a wide receiver like Moose Muhammad III reach pick 192 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.15 · Pick 235 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 266
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Sam Hartman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.21 · Pick 241 · Gavin Bartholomew · TE · rank 287
A big swing on Gavin Bartholomew at pick No. 241, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
