The Raiders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Smael Mondon Jr. fell into the Round 6 slot. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They will need Milroe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Jalen Milroe at No. 37, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Harold Fannin Jr. worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Denzel Burke at pick 107 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 144 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They robbed the room for RJ Harvey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Miles Frazier at Round 6, Pick 36, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Smael Mondon Jr. at the 218th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
By-the-book stuff, LaJohntay Wester at the 224th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
