The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Shedeur Sanders, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
That Evans pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 5 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Maxwell Hairston in the 68th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A quiet steal in pick No. 73: Deone Walker for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Hollin Pierce in the 107th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Smael Mondon Jr. all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
You do not let a tight end like Mitchell Evans reach pick 182 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
