The Eagles bet big and early on Frank Gore Jr., 54 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Pritchett.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 18 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in No. 53. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Blake Fisher in pick 120 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a cornerback like Nehemiah Pritchett reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Frank Gore Jr. this early at the Round 5 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tanner McLachlan at No. 210 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
